Hi,
My name is Hans Davis and I live in Thorpe Hesley in South Yorkshire, UK. I'm lucky to have the Peak District right on my door step, a spectacular landscape in one of the most beautiful & inspiring parts of the British Isles.
My love affair with photography began in the 1970's, taking B&W and colour print film using a Kodak Instamatic camera.
Later on I started using slide films with my first SLR, a Chinon CX, Fujica AX-5 and finally I moved on to Canon EOS 650 and EOS 30.
For me the EOS 650 started it all off in 1987. Looking back on it now it doesn't seem that exciting, no subject - biased program modes, no Custom Functions, and no multipoint focus. Go back 20 years though, when the world had yet to hear of things like megapixels and Raw images and the EOS was seen by many as nothing short of radical. The first digital EOS appeared 17 years ago, way back in 1995 and heralded a new age in SLR photography. With the introduction of the EOS 300D I finally changed over to the digital age in 2003. Digital SLR photography for the masses had arrived.
As the years have gone by, my passion for the subject has grown even stronger. Photography has always been in the blood, and I have in recent years, taken on a much more serious view of it. I have readily embraced the digital age, which has brought a whole new world into being, but at the end of the day, photography is still all about seeing and capturing the moment.
Circumstances have allowed me recently to change direction and focus full time on photography. I joined Flickr in 2010 and have found inspiration from the work of other photographers. In the last few years I have attented 'Winterhil CLC' and passed NCFE in Photography Level 1, 2 and 3. Also attending courses in Photoshop and HDR with Ken Fisher. An Adobe certified trainer for Photoshop and Lightroom. A short time later 'Getty Images' showed interest in my work and many of my images are for sale through them. More recently I have joined 'ImageBrief' as a photographer, using ImageBrief has been an eye-opener and a great experience.
The one thing I'm planing is to sell some of my images here in the coming year, so watch this space. You can also request an image via Getty, just go to my Flickr photostream by pressing the Flickr Button at the top, and under 'Licence' you will find a link to 'Request to License photo via Getty.'
Thank you for visiting
Hans
